Mission Statement | The Mammalian Physiology Lab at UCSC focuses on comparative physiology. Its research focus is on comparative physiology of large mammalian predators, with emphasis on energetics. |
Volunteer Duties | Marine mammal training for scientific research Needed: Volunteers to participate in animal husbandry with marine mammals at Long Marine Laboratory. Skills: Volunteers will develop skills in animal care, husbandry, and eventually animal training. Participants will also attend a lecture series on training techniques. No prior experience is required to join the program. Volunteers beginning in the program learn basic animal husbandry, and eventually learn hands-on training techniques through time. Requirements: It is important to provide both consistency and dedication, for the animals and the staff. Volunteers must commit to 15 hours per week for a minimum of one year. The commitment extends through summer and may include some holiday times. Williams Lab also offers volunteer opportunities in lab work. Perfect for biology and marine biology majors. |
